Chicago: the White City Wiki

A setting and game information resource Chicago: the White City, a live-action Vampire: the Requiem chronicle

A word of explanation

Welcome to the CWC Wiki...bear with me, I don't know a lot about this newfangled technology. This site exists because we learned pretty early on that using a traditional website to try and keep up with everything that players and visitors might want to know about the game was a bit clunky. If you're looking for game sites, times, admission and other technical meta-game information, the best place to look is the CWC website. You might find some of that information here, but it's purely incidental; the Wiki is designed to be kind of a constantly-updating web based "setting sourcebook" for the game. As the setting evolves and expands, expect to see an up-to-date reading in all the entries here.

Welcome to the White City...

In the nights following the disastrous fire that consumed most of the city, Chicago quickly became a shining beacon to the Kindred. Under the guiding hand of Prince Farragut, the vampiric underground of this city flourished alongside its sunlit mortal reflection. The Columbian Exposition opened Chicago not only to the mortal world, but to the Kindred as well. By Princely decree, Kindred of every stripe were given a chance to make it in the rapidly-expanding city...until they proved themselves unworthy, of course. Perhaps surprisingly, in this domain of self-made Kindred, the Covenants and Clans co-existed peacefully.

Of course, this golden age could not last forever. As the years wore on, the once-firm hand of Prince Farragut withdrew from its Kindred subjects. Unwilling (few dare to say unable) to take on the tasks required of a Prince, Farragut slowly ceded responsibility to the local leaders of all five covenants. To each of these Regents, the Prince granted a piece of the city. In time, the Regents became all but Princes in their own right, bowing less and less frequently to the receding presence of the Prince. As the Regents became more independant, the city's formerly-active Kindred society became fragmented. Gatherings at Chicago's Elysia grew infrequent as the covenants looked inward to their own territories. When Farragut himself vanished completely from Kindred affairs some time in the early 1990s, some of the younger and less influential Kindred barely even noticed.

Now, the city turns toward a new night. Eager for a semblance of Chicago's former society, Kindred from all over the city are re-emerging. Elysia long since abandoned are once again opening their doors. While undead society is coming back into bloom, new problems are coming to light. Kindred from outsider domains such as Joliet have arrived to show Chicago just how far the have fallen, and threaten to shatter what little civilization the city has developed. Old rivalries left smouldering are now rekindled, while new ones are spawned every night. Will Chicago ever regain its status as the White City, or will it perish into bloody chaos?
